Shiny, pretty, happy things
I don't think we have a miscellaneous thread for shiny pretty happy things yet (let me know if I've missed something!), so I thought I might make one.
Guidelines: no videos/songs (save them for Party Time); posts should be aesthetically pleasing ; in each post, say something nice about the person posting above you
I stumbled upon these Easternified Western fairy tales while searching for an Alan Watts transcript earlier:
Snow White
Alice in Wonderland
Beauty and the Beast
Wild Swans
Little Mermaid
Illustrations are by Na Young Wu - aren't they cute?
And finally:

Good idea Selina
ok.. person above me... even though i'm not sure what her first picture is about, i'm assuming she's not promoting magic mushrooms and weed hehe, but she is one of the most delightful, bubbly, sparkly wonderful people i've ever had the pleasure to talk to, she lights up any forum she graces....

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
The person above me has one of the brightest, most caring spirits I've ever met - strength and kindness emanated from her from the very first moment we met over on PLOA. She's been a wonderful inspiration to me - and a truly fun friend!
Things I think she would like:
You must remember, I'm a bad girl now!
Ohh actually, this reminds me of Aldous Huxley's "moksha" medicine (reading it is the closest I've come to tasting illicit substances...but that makes me bad, surely? ):
"With four hundred milligrams of moksha-medicine in their bloodstreams, even beginners can catch a glimpse of the world as it looks to someone who has been liberated from his bondage to the ego." - Island
...It's a wonderful book, Island, about a cynical journalist who gets washed up on a Western/Eastern island and falls into the experience of..... meditation, yoga, things like that.
It's all about not falling into the past - about awareness of the present moment...
The bird cocked its head and looked at him first with the right eye, then with the left. After which it opened its orange bill, whistled ten or twelve 7 notes of a little air in the pentatonic scale, made a noise like somebody having hiccups, and then, in a chanting phrase, do do sol do, said, "Here and now, boys; here and now, boys." The words pressed a trigger, and all of a sudden he remembered everything. Here was Pala, the forbidden island, the place no journalist had ever visited. And now must be the morning after the afternoon when he'd been fool enough to go sailing, alone, outside the harbor of Rendang-Lobo. He remembered it all—the white sail curved by the wind into the likeness of a huge magnolia petal, the water sizzling at the prow, the sparkle of diamonds on every wave crest, the troughs of wrinkled jade. And eastwards, across the Strait, what clouds, what prodigies of sculptured whiteness above the volcanoes of Pala!

Oh my...now I understand why you were talking about magic mushrooms...!
Maybe I need to fetch those pics from another site.
Also, maybe the say something about the person above could be modified to say something about them *or* post something you think would make them happy

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
"One day a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven. There he meets the Lord Himself. The Lord says to the cat "you lived a good life and if there is any way I can make your stay in Heaven more comfortable, please let Me know".
The cat thinks for a moment and says "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor."
The Lord stops the cat and says "say no more" and a wonderful fluffy pillow appears.
A few days later 6 mice are killed in a tragic farming accident and go to heaven. Again there is the Lord there to great them with the same offer. The mice answer "All of our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs and even women with brooms. We are tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so we don't have to run anymore?"
The Lord says "say no more" and fits each mouse with a beautiful pair of roller skates.
About a week later the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you are here?"
The cat stretches and yawns and replies "It is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those Meals On Wheels you have been sending by are the best!!!"

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
Okay, so 3 men are trapped on an island: a white guy, an African guy, and a Hispanic guy. They come across a genie's lamp and *POOF!*. The Genie pops out of it.
Genie: Ahhh you freed me! For that, I shall grant you 3 wishes!
So the 3 men all look at each other and agree to take one wish each.
The Hispanic guy goes first.
Hispanic guy: You know what? I wish to be rich, famous, and be back in my homeland with ALL my people there with me. However, I want them all to worship me like the king I am!
So *POOF!*. He's back in South America with all the Hispanic people there worshiping him, and treating him like a king. He's also rich and famous, too.
Now the African dude makes his wish...
African guy: You know what? I want to be back in MY homeland with all MY people, but I want all of us to be treated equally and also be equally rich.
So *POOF* he's back in Africa with all of his people are there with him. They're loving life and loving each other; they're in paradise.
The white guy then looks at the genie.
White guy: Are you telling me that all the blacks and Hispanics are out of America?
Genie: Yeah.
White Guy: I'll just have a coke.

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
i love Crystals
Rose Quartz, i hold this whilst talking to my body during mindfullness most nights, and i sleep with it next to my bed, they also say if you sleep with it under your pillow, it draws your soulmate to you, or you dream of them.
Blue Laced Agate, very calming and soothing, always good to hold or place on you when you're feeling stressed out.. its helped me through some hard times
Citrine.. the abundance stone... place the geode in the wealth corner of your home, or carry tumble stones in your purse/wallet for abundance, it also cleanses other crystals if place with it

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
Another shiny, pretty, happy thing:
Yesterday I walked into a bookstore and this book jumped out at me -- a children's book (yes, I just happened to walk into the children's section) --
called The Scariest Thing of All.
It's by Debby Gliori.
And it's about a bunny called Pip.
Pip is scared of just about everything...
He goes on an adventure into a deep dark forest and everything is frightening to him, his list of scary things is getting longer and longer...
Most of all, he's scared of a horrible sound.
RARRRR! RARRR!!
Until, that is.
He approaches the monster making it...
...and he realises...
It isn't a monster at all.
The sound that had been haunting him the whole time...
...was his tummy rumbling.
So he realises that all his fears - the things that had been frightening him - they were in fact all HIM.
HE was what he was scared of. His own mind was the scariest thing of all.
Not anything else.
Everything was just in his imagination.
The scariness of things was just in his head.
So he goes skipping around looking at "goblins" and "monsters" which are really just funnily shaped trees and brambles and telling them,
YOU'RE not scary.
I'M scary.
What a clever children's story.

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
To wish you all a happy Thursday, I have dedicated a song to each of you All the songs are on my ipod, so they are all songs that make me feel good but some of them match more with one or the other. There are no hidden messages, so don't read into it too much, I don't want to see Posay naked and I'm not about to dedicate my life to Armine Sorry if I left anyone out...
So here we go:
First
ok just kidding, I chose this
He gets 2 songs cause I couldn't choose.
Grazie d'esistere
So here we go:
First
Selina
You were the easiest one cause anything from 20s black and white movie songs to Julie Andrews or Disney princesses would match, but it obviously just HAS TO BEok just kidding, I chose this
Night Eyes
Because first of all you deserve a song with a guy as hot as he is in that video and second cause I love the sunny energy of that song and it reminds me of one of the happiest periods of my life Plus it reminds me how important happiness is over moneyThe Simplifier
Because anything you want- you got it and don't you forget it!Kazoo
Something chill like an ocean breezeAdam
Found this good oldie for youLittle Miss Sunshine
Something happy and lightAdi
Just cause it has always been one of my old time favorites ever since I was 18President Roosevelt
Because it's cheeky like you and has chicken in itPosay
Because this song has the most Posayish energy in my ipod, all other songs are too soft, not fiery enoughSparkle
Because you are and that's how you should feel about yourself every dayPixie-Mara
Because it's all so boring without PixieBunny
Because that's how I perceive you, soft , gentle and lovingRodan
Ohh it was hard to choose something for Rodan, cause I felt it had to be mysterious and serious like Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen. But since I insisted they all had to come from my ipod and I don't have either, I picked ERABlossomtea
Because this song is just like you and cherry blossoms against the blue sky on a sunny spring dayMA
Cause it's a cool LOA song lol and that's the most MAish on my ipodLotus
God, this has taken forever pheww, so last but definitely not least, our beloved LotusHe gets 2 songs cause I couldn't choose.
Grazie d'esistere

Oh my! This is so very thoughtful of you, lunar!
...I'm currently in a library but I looked at the first video without sound.
It's great! And at the moment, making me feel very homesick. I'm currently in rainy England, much as I love it it isn't hommmme...
Do you know that when I was three years old, there was a snake in my dollhouse? My parents had to evict it.

Thank you President and Nighty, I LOVE my songs
Selina, that is crazy, we have poisonous snakes in here too and sharks and alligators
but the biggest problem is the bears, they roam around houses and it is very common!
But you MUST listen to the first song WITH sound. The first time I heard it I was camping in a tent on Moreton island and our guide wanted to make us feel welcome
Nighty, here's another song that goes well with what we have been talking about
