ok guys, so if you were having a conversation with someone who was new to Loa and you could give them one piece of advice, one little pearl of wisdom or technique on how to learn and grow with this subject, what would it be? what would you say has helped you the most?

Read all you can about the subject. Don't pick one guru, and follow him or her.

Reading all you can is fine but so many "gurus" give contradictory advice/information, how are people meant to know who to believe? I think it's best to look at your own life and how things have developed/unfolded/happened/whatever and use that as a foundation. Look at your own experiences because that way you can be certain from your own experience as opposed to just taking someone's word for it Razz

yay good to see you Posay I love you

i've found so far if something really resonates with me then to stick with that, and not to keep fiddling and messing with techniques that seem like a chore!

Yeah I used to go about looking for different techniques and methods, blah blah. Then I thought long and hard and realised it was nothing but persistant attention on what I wanted that got me what I wanted, or didn't want as a result of said attention whether good or bad. I truly think LOA is over complicated by many when it's very simple actually.

Hi Night, rodan and posay! Happy to see you all! This is Armine from PLOA. There are so many things I would want to say to a beginner... depending on where they are in that moment. Hmm one piece of advice...

Take it lightly. These laws have been in effect every moment in their lives, therefore it is nothing new to them, except their conscious knowledge of it now. Have fun rather than worry. And what posay said- it's actually very simple (hence my newly chosen username). It doesn't take all that much belief, just so long as they don't constantly doubt. A tiny shift in thought and feeling goes a long way.

Other that that, read up and listen to multiple teachers so long as you don't overwhelm yourself and make a habit of using your intuition about where to learn from... you can start with current teachers maybe but go back to the ones from the turn of the century to the '60s... or even thousands of years ago. That is where the raw meat of it is, and you can take that simplicity and run with it in your own way. "Cook it however you like". cheers scratch Vegetarians, excuse the meat reference I love you

Hello friends! Very Happy  I am so glad I was drawn to this lovely little corner of the internet!

I remember trying to coach a friend with some LoA inspired advice and she ended up giving up on the whole thing when she didn't see results quickly.

I think it's important to understand that the LoA isn't just about "getting stuff". For me it's not about the "methods" or "techniques" but rather it's more of a "way of life" for lack of a better phrase and a way of looking at how the world works.

Like I said, I'm really glad I found this forum!  I am sure we are going to have a lot of really inspiring discussions here!

Hi everyone!

My advice would be, have fun with it and give it time.
Don't try 100 techniques at the same time, but focus on one thing at a time. Start with manifesting small things, because I always see it as a process. You start small and you build your believe. Once you have build your faith you go from there. The whole process of learning takes time, that's why having fun with it is so important, it will make your manifestations effortless. Smiley

I'd tell them only one thing

- Learn to listen to your instincts.

Learn to distinguish logic/ego from instinct.
Takes some work but once you get it, you'll always be happy, fulfilled, self reliant and virtually insusceptible to any form of bullshit.

Don`t remain stuck in learning, in trying to search for the perfect method. There is only being. Experiment as much as possible.

Hi guys Very Happy
I would say learn all you can, but don't get bogged down in information - if you find something that resonates with you, perfect Smiley If a method improves your life and makes you feel good, do that. Personally, I always give people the advice of start in a happy place - be happy now - and the rest will make sense to you.

I would also like to add that I know it can be a little overwhelming at first since there are sometimes contradictory thoughts being presented.

Instead of focusing in the differing ideas by the different "teachers" a beginner would be better off focusing on the areas where there is general agreement. Because I think that the common ground is much larger than the areas where the different thinkers differ. There may be different terminology and different ways of explaining the ideas but so many of the concepts are the same.

That's true Kazoo. Sometimes teachers differ in many areas which could be very confusing to a beginner. Maybe for newcomers it would be better to focus on the very general basics of LOA - start with positive thinking, mental housecleaning, focusing on your state of being, etc.
