Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
Special order delivery for the Le Cafe member "Phantasm":
These cats have multiplied, and so much so
That they are double the celestial Bears:
Cats that disport themselves in all-white furs,
Cats that are black and even calico,
And cats with tails and cats quite disentailed.
What I would gladly see (now wouldn't you?)
Is one cat with a hump or curlicue
Like some vain harridan discreetly veiled.
Let laboring mountains cease from all their toil,
For if a mouse were born, poor little brat,
It could not hope to flee so many a cat.
Good housewife, I admonish you to peel
Your eyes and watch the pot about to boil:
Run, look, a cat is carrying off the veal!
Here I must add my bob and wheel.
My sonnet will not have what praise entails
Unless it's like those cats that come with tails.
Sonnet by Torquato Tasso (1544-1595), trans. Lowry Nelson, Jr.

Damn Nighty, my son has sneezed twice today and both time I've started to say "Bless you" and stopped cause I suddenly think a fairy is dying somewhere now. I don't even believe in fairies, but you know, just in case, don't want to harm anyone loool.

Re: Shiny, pretty, happy things
Ummm I'm not an arch-feminist but
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about the objectification of women!!!!!!!!!!
We're not "things" you know!!!!!
This...these..."costumes"...they're so appalling.....and anyway is it even within the forum code of conduct to post indecent pictures?
This thread, at any rate, isn't designed for making fun of women or for ugly memes. It's meant to engender a sense of community, to make people happy.... I mean I loved your Santorini pic (we were actually talking about Santorini not long ago ) and things like that but the stuff you generally post here is vulgar and intellectually stultifying.
You've made your own thread parodying mine. Why don't you post this kind of content over there?
Peace out. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings but it had to be said.
(Eva Green, smart, sexy, but never objectified)

Oh, haha, it didn't occur to me to take it that way. I was looking at the lingerie thinking oh the pink one looks nice, and the black and white- you know making up my next shopping list but ehemm... now that I hear these costumes are appalling I think I'll just reach for my granny pants
But yes, time to balance out the thread again
and one especially for Selina

Thanks for the support PR
There is a difference between women who are in control of their own sexuality and women who are represented as being simply objects. Eva Green falls into the former category. From what I have read, she can be quite... in her films. But both her characters and her public image tend to be women on an equal footing to men - I mean look at Vesper Lynd - that scene when she comes in and wows everyone at the poker table. Yes, this is a beautiful woman who is desired by all. But no, she does not become a simple object. She invites the male gaze and uses it to her own advantage. Her seductive appeal becomes a means of control over men...even James Bond himself.
She isn't some fluffy feathery "bit of stuff", ever.
Sorry Lunar, I didn't mean to offend anyone, to each their own -- I just dislike the way these kinds of things present women... we're not here just as vehicles of pleasure for men... and ... *shudders*
What people get to in the privacy of their own homes is one thing, but it's hardly appropriate for an online forum!
Thanks for balancing things out. mainly for G Peck!!!
