Dark, Beautiful, Morbid Things
As a parallel to Selina's thread, a place to post things that are creepy or bizarre in a beautiful, soul-searching way,
things that ache
things that writhe
things that bridge the distance between life and death
museum pieces and old clocks
stuffed animals
the occult and the mystical
deepest darkest wisdom of Kabbalah
secret writings
ghosts
torture chambers
and devils
(ghostly hallway)
(monk skull collection, Athos, Greece)
(ossuary in Naters, Switzerland)
(bookshelves of lore)
(hieroglyphs)
(The Illusionist)

Re: Dark, Beautiful, Morbid Things
^ I love the Greek and Roman Underworld. And afterlife images generally.
I loved Myst and Riven growing up, those haunted isles...
Also - more recently - steampunky stuff like Help Volty
And the ridiculously detailed handdrawn indie game Machinarium
where you save this little robot guy from the rubbish tip and guide him through a robot dystopia
with some real mindbending puzzles in between
It's funny, it isn't as well known as The Room but I got through the whole of The Room (which is so "hard" a lot of people moan about it) in one day while Machinarium took me longer.
I still like The Room though, it's got good graphics and that "special" atmosphere....
There's that element of...conspiracy theory feeling and deep dark history. Secret codes like something out of a story of the Templars or Freemasons.
That said I got totally bored of The Room 2 before I even got very far with it, it just didn't grab me... too stereotypical. Pirate ships? Give me a break...

Re: Dark, Beautiful, Morbid Things
Thankyou Lunar.
Marion Crane: Do you have any vacancies?
Norman Bates: Oh, we have 12 vacancies. 12 cabins, 12 vacancies.
Classic Hitch.
Also has anyone read The Fifth Child?
“While she strode rapidly through the ward to the door at the other end, she was able to see that every bed or cot held an infant or a small child in whom the human template had been wrenched out of pattern, sometimes horribly, sometimes slightly. A baby like a comma, great lolling head on a stalk of a body... then something like a stick insect, enormous bulging eyes among stiff fragilities that were limbs... a small girl all blurred, her flesh guttering and melting - a doll with chalky swollen limbs, its eyes wide and blank, like blue ponds, and its mouth open, showing a swollen little tongue. A lanky boy was skewed, one half of his body sliding from the other. A child seemed at first glance normal, but then Harriet saw there was no back to its head; it was all face, which seemed to scream at her.”

Re: Dark, Beautiful, Morbid Things
The Nine-Eyed Slayer is a mythical Aftrican creature. It is known to have nine eyes and takes the form of an exceptionally large spider, weighing over 40 pounds and over 3 feet in diameter. !

Re: Dark, Beautiful, Morbid Things
Anyway stop asking dumbass questions you know I was pretending it was Nine-Eyes, Queen of Hell.
It wouldn't be fun if I used Gwen Stacy. I think most people would recognize her. Storm isn't that recognizable and I'm not going to photoshop a comic ffs.
