Re: Inspiring Video of the Day
Almost ALL secrets were released in this film, and all questions were answered.
Part 2: The Spiral
Part 3: The Serpent and the Lotus
Part 4: Beyond Thinking
(It finally gets inspiring still enlightening in part 4 so don't miss this one).

Re: Inspiring Video of the Day
(Start at 0:33 to get to the end of the interviews)
"Why should I curse just because I've locked my keys in first thing in the morning?"
So begins this song by Pavel Callta. Everyone knows I'm not big on pop music, but I'm very fond of this guy, though I find the music...mediocre, nonetheless, uplifting and feel-good.
I'm posting this in a "serious" thread because it has a "serious" message: even when "bad" things happen, it's usually possible to find a silver lining, and bad things never last anyway.
The lyrics tell the story of a man who locks himself out first thing in the morning of an important exam. Instead of cursing the world, he goes out in his dressing gown to catch a bus; instead of caring that everyone is laughing at his attire, he's glad to see all the happy faces.
The refrain says that bad luck contains good luck in it, and that you can always "glue broken pieces back together" - depending on how you see things, things can almost always be good.
In a sense you can make your own luck.
The most powerful lines in the song are "It's great when you know that everything that should happen, will happen; if I just wait a while, it'll all turn out well."
And in the context of the song it does.... he gets the best mark possible for his exam (1=highest mark). He also finds, for a second time, the girl whose number he lost.

Re: Inspiring Video of the Day
I rather liked this song, Freya. No not mediocre to me (at least next to many others universally celebrated for some unfathomable reason). Thanks for sharing (although personally I prefer to keep this great thread of yours away from songs and music in general).
(Also thanks to Armine, Lunar and Night for their earlier comments; glad you liked that film. Yes, Armine, exactly; "It is beautifully put together with much sense and clarity.")
Here's another video: the rare and old BBC documentary on Spanish surgeon Dr. Angel Escudero. Ever heard of this one? This man simply utilizes the power of the mind to stop the bodily pain, and he does it so easily you'd hardly believe it. One can't help but remember all those fire-walkers and other miracle workers who seem to have conquered all sorts of pain.
Sorry for the quality of this old documentary (from the 1970s I guess). The man is still alive, though, and there are several other, more recent videos with him on YouTube but they're mostly in Spanish. This is still the best I found on him in English. (I also believe a translation of one of his books, Healing by Thinking, is available on the web, in pdf format). So… no "magic" really. Just believe.

Re: Inspiring Video of the Day
Thank you, Lotus - I have some thoughts on aesthetics that I'd love to post, as well as on music's place in spirituality [though not really this music - which is why I say mediocre, though I do love it]. Nonetheless, this isn't the place for those things, it would need a separate thread, and secondly, I just don't have the time to write what I'd like to, in the same way as I wished to respond to your discussion of free will (I think we don't see the issue as differently as first imagined but I'd eventually like to pose some more questions), and other threads.....but didn't. My "leaving the forum probably for a while" was poorly executed but I do actually need to be offline more.
I look forward to learning a lot from all videos in this thread, and will be sure to have a look around for Angel Escudero's Healing by Thinking.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations and I'm sorry I've been a bit out of touch with actually responding to things.
