Re: Christmas Wishes
Let it be said by none that we have an inefficient gift system here at the North Pole.
Despite overloaded servers, our elves have responded to your complaints and provided replacement gifts in order to meet with our high standards of quality.
Freya, Lotus, Night Eyes, President Roosevelt, Posay, and Rodan, please look again in your gift boxes.
Until next year.

Re: Christmas Wishes
Alright, Santa; I really like your persistence. Thank you for this new gift (although it's quite controversial here: is it better him singing nothing at all, or him Cryin' Christmas Tears?)
To you too, and to all members, I dedicate Zemeckis' maserpiece The Polar Express. The whole movie. I know most of you have seen it before, but to me at least this is the best animation movie to watch on this occasion.
Please pay attention to the last scenes: How could our hero boy here receive particularly that gift? Was Santa, then, real or unreal? Where's the line between Reality and Imagination? I believe this is the deeper question of this movie. "Belief" simply blurs the line between these two realms.
Well, I never did this before but will try to "embed" it all here. Just in case it didn't work, here's a good link to watch it online. This is another. And yet another.
Thanks again Santa and Merry Christmas to you too.

Re: Christmas Wishes
Thanks, Lotus.
There were only two Christmas-appropriate music videos with Clapton live, so there was little choice.
Night Eyes, there's something that dropped out of your stocking earlier, I thought it was worth pointing it out...

This is a classic, Night. I love James Stewart (the older James Stewart though); I love the good old days' customs, haircuts, streets, buildings, cars, even furniture; and I moreover love the fantasy genre of movies in general. But this really is a masterpiece that everyone would love even those who don't enjoy black and white movies.
Alright, my friend; since you've missed a lot get ready, for next Christmas if I were here still I'd ask you to please give us a list of the top Christmas movies of all time.
Thanks Night. (If it weren't for you, I believe much would've never received any response on this forum—and probably more would've never even arrived. )

Dear Santa: One of the most important lessons I've learned from life is that, we always take people for granted while we should never take anyone for granted. Our mind is designed to form "habits" all the time, so we quickly get "used" to those seemingly always around. We unconsciously view them as permanent parts of the world, and thus the once-amazing, or beautiful, or unusual, gradually lose their uniqueness, become familiar, plain and ordinary, and may even feel boring. Only when they're not around anymore; only when we lose them—and we always lose them in the end—only then do we wake up, realize how much they meant, remember how unique they were, recognize every touch they added to our life, every smile, song and flower, regret every moment we failed to express them our appreciation or show our love, and wish we could have another chance, just one chance, even for only one minute, to just tell them "Thank You."
That's why I said "thank you," Santa, even when the singer didn't sing at all. It doesn't matter if it's Christmas-appropriate or not. It doesn't matter if it's a music video from an overloaded server that took you hours to link or just one simple word. What really matter is why... Why send me anything at all... and why I in reply would say thank you.
Wonderful Tonight?

Re: Christmas Wishes
I feel wonderful
'Cause I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize
How much I love you
'Cause I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize
How much I love you
But the "words" are not really important this time. As you can see or rather hear, the "lyrics" the lady sings in the end are as or even more expressive and beautiful. Apparently the plain words alone couldn't convey his feelings. He wrote these lyrics himself, on September 7, 1976, while waiting for Pattie. She was dressing up, for Paul and Linda McCartney's annual party, but he grew impatient so he grabbed a pen and went on writing—what would later become one of his most beautiful and famous pieces. But truly the words, albeit beautifully simple, weren't enough, so he turned to his music where he could better express his love and gave us this amazing solo in the end..
And this is Pattie, Patricia Ann Boyd, who inspired Wonderful Tonight.
(Not just "pretty" but much more than that. This young lady inspired many songs, by Clapton and others, in the late 1960 and 1970s).
Dear Santa, ladies and gentlemen: Eric Clapton.

Re: Christmas Wishes
I'm a winter man, as you probably know.
And when it's night.. and raining..
..and I'm in my car, traveling alone..
..or roaming the cold streets with my heart's lady..
And when it's night.. and raining..
..and I'm in my car, traveling alone..
..or roaming the cold streets with my heart's lady..
..my song then, the song I can listen to all night, came from these two legends. Come Rain or Come Shine. You can't imagine how I love this song. Listen, for example, to how the King sings the word "raiaiaiaiain." Such details! But no, not only these details of course; I'm in love with the whole thing, even with the blues music in general.
When they first met, in a concert, Clapton was only a guitarist and King ignored him altogether. He seemingly didn't even notice he was there. Finally, in the very end before they all left the stage, King called him, looked him in the eye and said, "You're good, son. You're very good."
But I laughed much, really, because of all songs you like this one where the tempo is relatively faster. "This is Night Eyes," I said. All you think and write and even like reflect and represent the "Power of Life," as I told you before. So while I, also Armine I guess, and others for sure, would take the more artistic or more "blues" pieces, you'd definitely pick such faster and livelier ones.
Thanks, Night. It's a beautiful piece though; I really enjoyed it. It's even better than all those quiet pieces given the fact that this is a Christmas thread.
