How to move past traumatic events Empty Re: How to move past traumatic events

Hi some guy, first I want to say that you are not " just some guy" to us! You are among friends here, so welcome!

I am really sorry to hear about your experiencs. I can't even imagine. I am sure that was hard to write out so thanks for sharing.

What I would suggest is looking into EMDR.

http://www.emdria.org/?2

(I hope the link works, I'm posting from my phone.)

There has been a lot of success with EMDR being used to help people overcome PTSD so it very well could help you.

If you aren't able to see a practitioner for whatever reason I did come across something that can be used on your computer but I'm not sure if that works as well. I can try to find it for you when I am back on my computer.

Adam, it crossed my mind that it might be you but I took a chance.

If you have ANY understanding of LOA at all then you understand how repeatedly writing about your past experiences, over and over and over is exactly the WRONG way to go about this.

That's really all I have to say about any of your past dealings with other members here. You've been given a few chances to participate, and it's not my call if you even stay here or not but I have absolutely no desire AT ALL to discuss what happened over at PLOA and I can safely assume no one else here does either. We all know how you feel about it and continuing to bring it up isn't serving any purpose whatsoever.

If you have a genuine interest in EMDR then I will gladly discuss that with you. If all you want to do is go on and on about other members then I have better things to do with my time and energy and I won't even bother to address it.

I honestly have no idea if you are being genuine or this is some sort of schtick you use online but if this all for real I hope you get the help you need.

Adam, I'm truly sorry to hear about your traumatic life events. Kazoo is right, EMDR is powerful. See here for some success stories: http://mytraumatherapy.com/blog/?cat=13

On the other hand, this vendetta you're pursuing against President Roosevelt, Posay, lunareclipse, MA138, and others is not helping you. To begin with, it isn't justified, but even if it had been... If they were all locked up in prison for "what they did", for "harassing" you, it would not improve your life. It would not help you. It would not heal you. You might feel some temporary satisfaction but ultimately things would be no better.

Ultimately, offence is taken, not given.

We are not victims of our feelings. Feeling offended is an emotion similar to anger, annoyance, sadness, loneliness and love. While they can each be quite powerful and we may not be aware we are making a decision to feel any of them, they are within our control. With the exception of depression, which can be a disease over which we can only exert limited control, none of them is involuntary.

Nobody forces us to fall in love or feel sad, so why should we attribute blame to those who prompt us to feel offended or insulted? Even when a comment is intended to be hurtful, or there is indifference as to whether hurt is caused, it is still up to us whether we take offence. We are responsible for our feelings and should accept responsibility for them. How we respond is also up to us.

The very idea that someone else has control over the way we feel is contrary to our sense of independence and self-ownership. If nobody can force us to think in a particular way, nobody can compel us to feel offended.

Adam, you have a choice. You can come back to internet forums time and time again complaining and causing havoc, or you can actually look after yourself, heal yourself, and come back to make a difference to the world. You have enormous potential; I've read your some of your writings, you're an intelligent man. Tendonitis is awful but I have musician friends who have had it and conquered it. It can be treated. You can still live your dreams. But coming back here to talk about something that needs to be left in the past is not going to take you any closer to those dreams. You're just digging yourself deeper into a hole. Climb upwards towards the light, or get sucked down further into the black hole of depression and mental disorder? It's your choice.

What I would like would be for you to come back here in a year and tell us your success story of how you treated your PTSD and got well on the way to having a successful career in music.
You can do this. The first step is to get some serious therapy. After that, the world is yours.

Good luck. This is about your life. You can take control and make it better, or you can let it slip away day by day. I know what I'd want to do; no matter hard it was, climbing to the top would be worth it.
