Re: Welcome
Wow, what a surprise! This is a very special day. Welcome again Mike, yep this is your first cup, on the house, finally someone, someone caring and beautiful, brought it out hot, sweet and delicious. Welcome Bookworm. Sounds like I know you; I hope you can reveal your identity on PLOA. As for Selina and MA... *sigh*... what can I say? lol. They were "puzzling" me, to say the least.
MA is a very smart, nice and decent gentleman who was always, always, more than anyone else, either complaining about the ex-back group on PLOA, or just teasing them. He, it seemed, was endlessly annoyed by this recurring type of ex-back posts, so I thought he'd be one of the first to land here. Actually it's for people like him that this forum was built. To my surprise, however, he didn't—and it really took me some time to figure it out. Perhaps he's not really annoyed after all? Perhaps he's more teasing than complaining, and thus "just having fun" there? I sure have a different definition for "fun," but after all, yeah, to each his own.
As for Selina, she reminds me of the "etiquette and protocols" of the Spanish Royal Court in old Europe. Although the English court was the most genuine or at least my personal favorite, the Spanish was the most "strict" all over Europe. It was an "ordeal" to be in the Spanish court. Merely "touching" a princess, for instance, even if to save her from falling for example, was reason enough to get your head cut off immediately. So Selina feels like a princess from the old Spanish court—untouchable. She just can't "join" like anyone else. She has to be first invited, convinced, perhaps even begged—once, twice, thrice...
Anyway, you delighted my heart and got me talkative although I was leaving—just for a few days. So welcome Selina and MA. To have both of you along with Mike and, I believe, Bookworm as well feels like a new birth of this site. Thanks for joining. (Only hope Selina won't just say "Goodbye" all of a sudden as she did before. Your Highness: you get addicted, we get addicted too—and the "withdrawal symptoms" of Selinaine are probably more painful than you imagine).
Night Eyes: Tasse de l'Amour? That was a very beautiful touch, Night. Thanks for this thread and for your love and care. As I said yesterday, you just breathe life wherever you go, ma'am. Hats off.
Finally my love and gratitude, as a member, is forever to the older ones here, the true founders and builders of this forum who kept it always alive and shining and full of love, especially Night, Armine, Kazoo, Rodan and Roosevelt. My sincere thanks are also to Bunny, Mara, Posay, Ivy and Adi (Welcome back my friend). I'm sure the rest are just busy, either with another Reiki case or with a new baby, but we still recognize the blessings of their presence here with us. So love you all everyone and see you soon.

Completely missed this post earlier while skimming through the welcomes. *facepalm* Thankfully Adam has quoted it - (thank you, Adam )...
And the delay just made reading the great Baron Lotus' words more of a delight. Thank you, Master, for such a welcome. *deep curtsey-bow*
While I certainly would not condone any violence to those who tried to touch me, perhaps I am a little "untouchable".
Interesting that a Spanish princess should share a common trait of a certain unfortunate class of pre-1950s Indian...
And gypsies, apparently -- gypsies are apparently also untouchable (according to Wikipedia).
Even the great Carmencita? What an irony....
On another note - Lotusine is, unfortunately, so addictive that the addict is never quite cured, always comes back, and back, and back, for more, and more, and more....
There shan't be any sudden goodbyes here.
Au revoir mes ami - à plus tard.
Selina

Re: Welcome
Glad you like it here Adam, how wonderful you can trace your family back and discover all that!... Amazing.. i love listening to ancestry its fascinating. My fathers family have traced their family back... nothing royal, other than being maids or postmasters to Queen Victoria.. but we did learn that a while back our family owned an Island off the South Coast of England... so that was pretty cool, one day i shall visit it and learn about some of my roots
Selina is definitely the Princess of the forums, she has a very magical presence, you can just feel it
and MA tea, biscuits and scary movies are most definitely on, i think Lotus should make you a Knight or something... Night Eyes personal protection hehe.... maybe he can add some Tea and Biscuit pictures to the Gallery?

Re: Welcome
Night-Eyes - my goodness, that is so lovely and romantic. Postmasters and maids to Queen Victoria!...and an island, oh I love islands!
You're very lucky to have one in the family!
As far as I know there is no royalty or blue blood in my family - well, a hint of blue blood I think, but nothing to really talk about - nonetheless I shall strive to live up to the princess-ship. Thank you for your lovely words, Queen Knight Eyes (I couldn't help it, my fingers typed it without me meaning to!)
...on the other hand, we do have a famous sea-faring admiral on the family tree (though I'm a little skeptical if the connection is truly sound). Which is maybe why I've always been drawn to the sea, the sea...
Argh me hearties. [He did actually recover stolen loot from pirates...lots of it...maybe he even sailed around Night Eyes' island!]

Re: Welcome
P.S we dont own the Island these days its part of the National Trust now but it was ours ( i say ours loosely as i dont know where in the family tree i fit with these people, just that i do) from 1834-1918
it did have a history of pirates but that was well before my family owned it

Re: Welcome
Ah, but it isn't just about ownership. I'd say it's still your island.
After all, the National Trust just look after things for people.
Why are pirates so intoxicatingly interesting? They're quite terrible, really, [especially in real life as opposed to, erm, Peter Pan] and yet they're so...
...they have such a...
...an aura of adventure.
And pirates in fiction are almost invariably charismatic.
Well.
The Captains are.

Re: Welcome
i guess when films and the media romanticise things like this then we find them fascinating
especially when we get pirates that look like this!
and well the island changed hands before the national trust so it was definitely sold outside of the family.. but its nice to know my family has something wonderful in its history.... and they definitely made their mark on the island

Re: Welcome
I think once something has such a connection to your family, the connection can't be lost, no matter what money is exchanged. I feel like that about all the places I've lived in - I don't *own* any of my childhood houses, but they still feel like a part of me and my history, and are still in some sense...well, there's still some sort of belonging, I belong to them and they belong to me. Sort of.
Maybe not the best example!
Yes, well, pirate characters are certainly romantic (or romantic-ish, in some cases) and fun:
