Since lovely Siamesegirl so kindly shared her prosperity exercise at PLOA
http://goodvibeblog.com/how-to-attract-financial-windfalls/
it reminded me how much random good memories from the past pump up your vibration. So let's try to remember something every day that would bring a smile to your face. Sharing would hopefully make others smile too, but if we see it in the topic feed on the left, maybe we'll remember to turn our attention back to appreciation again? What do you think?

Ok I'll start with the one that just popped to my head a few moments ago and gave me the idea of starting this thread.

When I was a child, I used to skip lunch at school and save up my lunch money to buy my mom something nice. Flowers, I love you- cards, once I bought her a paintbrush although she had absolutely no use for it and it was so cheap the hair came off when you touched it Random good memories :) 330167806 There wasn't much I could get for my precious saved pennies, but I think it was the anticipation of seeing her smile that made me so happy and motivated to keep doing it.

Your turn now! Share a good memory I love you

Post by President Roosevelt Fri Sep 11, 2015 10:30 pm

One day after school in 7th grade, my friends and I went to 7/11 and bought a whole bunch of candy. I was there with....let's call them A, C, D, K, J, and little K. We pushed little K into a rack of potato chips and the whole thing came down. Not to mention that when big K picked up his slurpy, he dropped half of it on the floor. The manager was so mad he started yelling at us to get out and cursed at us in some kind of foreign language. He threatened to call the cops so we ran to the train station. As we boarded the brown line, we saw a very snobby clique of other kids from school there and we all stuck up our middle fingers at them lol. It's mostly yuppies, young professional types on the train and they're looking at us like "I hate kids!". Finally, big K spilled the rest of his slurpy on the floor so we sneaked into a different car and ate a lot of Twix, Snickers, and Cheetos. Finally, when we were all done, we just left thousands of little wrappers and empty chip bags everywhere.

One day, my friends C, J, K, and I were going to cut school to go sneak into an R-rated movie. C and I specifically cut class that day because our math homework folder was due and neither of us even attempted to do it. It was a Friday so who cares? Wink We agreed to meet up at a McDonald's near the school. When we all met up, we ended up buying those Big Gulps for 50 cents. We drank so much soda and by the time we were walking to the train, we had to pee really bad. The nearest restroom was back in the school. So we sneaked into the school, peed the longest pee ever, and tried to sneak back out. But...we were caught. Thankfully, the teacher didn't know that we were leaving school, she just thought we were tardy so she yelled at us to get tardy slips and we spent the rest of the day there, just thankful that they didn't know our real plan (and risk suspension). So C and I spent the next three hours trying to get as much math homework done as possible. But....we didn't know how to do any of it. So we tried flirting with some girls in class to copy their work and thankfully they bought it. Smile I was really subtle about it: "Hey Olivia, can I see your math homework? I just want to compare answers and I'm asking you because you have the most elegant handwriting I've ever seen." Meanwhile, my friend C says something like "C'mon Adira, I wouldn't ask you for your math homework if I didn't love you. You know you and me got something special going on girl, I know you feel it." He gets the folder, gives me a big thumbs up and a giant grin, and says "Man, I'm such a fucking pimp." lol At the end of the day, C, K, and I got yelled at again because we started rapping in the middle of class.

Lol that reminds me of when we were 17 and went out partying one night with my best friend, spent the night smooching with some hot Portuguese guys at the club and the place closed at 6 so we went to wait in front of the school with zero sleep. The headmaster got there like 7am and was praising us what dedicated and eager students we were, since that was the day we had to be at the reception desk.
Our school had this desk where the high schoolers took turns every day to sit there all day and greet visitors. It was great cause you could skip all the classes and most of the day was really quiet cause everyone was always at the class.
That day however we were quickly at a stage where we could barely keep our eyes open Very Happy
Some old teacher that was bored wondered over and started a loooooong most tedious conversation about the education of first-graders and I remember my eyes were literally rolling back in my head and I was so hoping she would not notice (she didn't).

Later in University Technology lecture became a regular place where I ALWAYS fell asleep. I even started looking forward to my regular "naptime" bahaha. So don't trust me to engineer your house, they will look pretty but they will all crumble and collapse later Twisted Evil

When i was in school, me and my 2 friends would sit together in R.E and one of them would talk the whole way through it, or just generally not listen, so when the teacher set us a task, she would ask us both what we had to do...... so we would always tell her she had to draw the illustration on whatever page in the book we were working on, the funny thing was even though she didn't do the actual work, the teacher would always praise her because she was so good at drawing! we still laugh about it today Very Happy

My friends and I really fucked up the school play. Random good memories :) 3860147043 It was 8th grade, and our drama teacher was really, really mean. She was always playing favorites and scolding the rest of us. Her most adored students always got main parts in the play. If she doesn't like you, you're sent off to stage production which is lighting, smoke, sound, and stage setup, pretty much what my friends and I had to do. But we stuck with it 'cause it was a legitimate excuse to skip class. We had tons of freedom since she kept forgetting about us. So what did we do while she rehearsed with the actors? We just ate candy and played cards. Random good memories :) 4179936410 We stole an issue of Sports Illustrated from the library. This issue was extra special because one of the models in it was doing a sexy pose with her breasts and nipples clearly visible behind some kind of "dress". So we showed her to the 5th graders and the look on their faces was priceless. One day, the principal, the vice principal, and the security card visited us in the sound room in the top deck. They looked all over the place for the candy that was safely stored behind stacks of CDs in the cupboard. One of our guys was throwing candy wrappers out the window and they spotted hundreds of wrappers all over the outside balcony. Well, we were let off with a warning since they had no proof it was us (we just told 'em it was like that when we started). Now, our drama teacher forgot about us so we had no idea really what we were doing. We finally got our directions on the day before the play, but she didn't print enough stage directions for everyone so I had no idea what I was doing. It was William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream . I had to handle the lights and it was terrible. My friends and I were play-fighting and broke the glass on one of the lights during the actual play. On top of that, we decided to play basketball in the top balcony before the play. The ball pushed some hardware to the floor and it cracked so we had to hide it. Then the ball fell off the balcony and hit one of the actresses on the head. I had a giant crush on her friend, R, one of the leads in the play, but she kind of hated me after that. Another friend in charge of smoke broke the smoke generator. And someone stole a bunch of CDs that were meant to be part of the background music. We had no idea what to do so we just went along with it and ran the hell out of there when the half-assed play was done. We also went to a party that night and one of our friends (who was a lead in the play), drank a little too much beer. We kind of dared him to. During the evening edition, he vomited on stage, right on R's dress. So the drama teacher read his lines for him, we wrapped up the play, and then there was an after-party for the kids and parents. We knew there would be hell to pay, so my friends and I rushed in really quick, grabbed some pizza and soda, and sneaked out before she could spot us. We ended up eating in a "hidden" part of the library just laughing about everything. We took a final look at that Sport's Illustrated model but the librarian caught us, told us to be behave like gentlemen, and threw the magazine away. Rolling Eyes And that's how we fucked up the play. hats off

This is a beautiful thread Lunar. I love you I love stories of making people smile - it's so rewarding. (Making people smile - but the stories, too.)

It's lovely to see everyone's stories... isn't it interesting, though, that at the moment we have so many happy memories of misbehaviour here? Wink

Haha, well the misbehavior was only inspired by PR. Compared to him I was an angel Random good memories :) 2350192290

Some of my favorite memories and my absolute favorite days in all my life are the very first days of the vacation. You know days where you have already done the flying and getting to the hotel bit and then it's the first official day of exploring and relaxing. The sun is shining and you know you have a whooooole holiday ahead of you Smiley
It's like a Christmas morning, the feeling of no work, new food, new people, you don't know what you will discover but you know it will be awesome Smiley

ok heres one

This time 14 years ago, i was sat in a gown and surgical stockings waiting to go down to theatre and have my second Baby

i'll keep the story Brief, but basically i was in a flap having a massive panic attack as i was having my second c-section and well, you know whats coming the second time around, the spinal block felt like someone taking their clenched fist and pushing it through your back. as i write this we are almost to the exact time she was born

well anyways i got through the spinal block, and as they laid me down, the midwife asked what names have you got, so i said Kelsey for a girl, and Kian for a boy. I managed to panic my way through the operation, gave the Anaethetist a few worrying moments with my panic attack... but all went quiet, and well you can feel once the babies out, so i knew it was nearly over, they explained they had to give baby a whiff of oxygen, and then the Midwife came around the screen with a beautiful little bundle and simply said, 'Congratulations.... you have a little baby Kelsey'

and well the whole terror of the operation just melted away Very Happy

I personally find the idea of giving birth terrifying. All the women who do it have so much of my admiration... my half sister just had a baby yesterday, I'm on the other side of the planet and so is my dad, but at the moment I admit I'm a bit jealous of all the attention she's getting for being a mother. Even from overseas lol.

Actually the baby looks a lot like me when I was born. Good genes. Very Happy

You must be so proud of your kids Night. Smiley

Congrats Phanty and happy birthday to Kelsey, Nighty!!
I don't know what surgical stockings are but they certainly didn't give anything that kinky to me here Razz PLOA
They must've drugged me up pretty good because I don't have a single memory of the needle going in either time. I hated the needle that they stick in your wrist for the dropper thingy a lot more.
I had epidural with Ryder and spinal block with Iris and the spinal made me super sick. All I could think about during the operation was "Don't throw up".
I did throw up later in the room the first time I tried to eat.
Honestly I have very very vague memories from both days. It's all  a big haze. I'm very impressed you can remember it 14 years later Very Happy

By the way I am terrible at recognizing any accents, but for some reason in my head you always sound like miss Rabbit from Peppa pig, Nighty  tongue

I am very Proud thanks Phanty, although i have no idea what childbirth is like considering i had 3 children, i had them all by c-sections because my girls were pretty stubborn on 'being born' especially Kelsey hehe, so my boy, there was never a choice he had to be born that way.

Lunar i only remember snippets, as i was so frightened during them, i have a phobia of medication so it was all a bit too much for me, but i remember the spinal blocks clearly, as they expect you to be able to bend forward with your spine arching when you have a big baby bump lol

i felt sick on my 3rd from it, i think it has something to do with the blood pressure? but then i had bigger problems on that op, i think i was lucky to come out alive.

but yes i remember them all for different reasons, my eldest within seconds of being born wee'd over the midwife, Kelsey because of what i already wrote and my youngest just cried the operating theatre down, and then laid in his fathers arms making squeaky noises Smiley

And sorry to Disappoint, but i sound nothing like the rabbit lol

Childhood memories

Random good memories :) A97b01c9c3bd99f9b9aee37a7eb12aac

I had a ring just like this, as well as a number of others. My very first one, blue and white crystal, I got when I was about three. I remember wearing it on the way to playgroup... I was so glad to have it I held my whole arm out in front of me, so I could see my hand with my ring on it...instead of where I was going. Wink

Then, in first grade, a boy called Chris liked me, and gave me a ring with a heart stone. I still have it somewhere. Facebook Heart

I never got my ears pierced, so I used to wear stick-on earrings:

I adored them!!

early 20s memories Razz 2

My first, and so far only, trip to New York.

- Getting very, very, very wonderfully lost in Central Park
- The pizza in the cafeteria of (prestigious institution a group of people from my university were collaborating with)...MY....GOD!!!!
- meeting and collaborating with a group of amazing, enthusiastic, warm, and friendly people at the top of my field
- The time my best friend on the trip and I caught a taxi to the Metropolitan Museum, only to find out it was closed Facepalm
- diners Very Happy
- pizza in diners Very Happy
- the huuuuuuuuge grocery stores
- buying a wig in the massive costume shop across the road from our hotel in Manhattan
- my friends going to Lombardi's (to eat more pizza) and me missing out to study (once a swot...)
- exploring the city with a Pulitzer-prize-winning photographer tagging along to take photos of my friends and me for the newsletter of (institution we were working with)

Awww such great memories Selina, haha I remember the sticky earrings Very Happy I've never had my ears pierced either, it would be weird if I wore earrings now, or any piercings, or tattoos.. I mean, they are pretty on other people, but it would feel so .. foreign.. or strange on my body.

Travel memories are the best Smiley Although childhood home memories are great too.
You know my memory is getting so horrible, I discovered recently that I can't remember what my son's first word was  afraid
I think I should just make a timeline and start writing down brief phrases for as many good memories that I can remember, so that when I am 90 and can't remember a thing I can read and feel like my life has been worth living Very Happy

I was about 8 or so and a big horror movie fan. I went downtown with my Mom and we went into a Sam Goody's. I convinced her to buy me Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers on VHS (the old days). Next we went to eat at my favorite Italian restaurant and I had to walk through a Chanel store with her. I kept looking at the movie cover over and over again, I was so excited. My Mom then told me to put it away and hide in in her bag because she doesn't want people to think she's a bad mother for buying it for me lol. I watched the movie as soon I got home, my Dad was sleeping on the couch and he woke up during a murder scene and got scared Twisted Evil
