Spook Tales
"If you were trapped in an impossible situation, in an unpleasant place, and someone offered you a temporary escape, why wouldn't you take it? And escapist fiction is just that: fiction that opens a door, shows the sunlight outside, gives you a place to go where you are in control..." - Neil Gaiman
I thought this might be a nice way for us to forget our troubles, our daily lives, and lose ourselves in fantasy...
In celebration of Halloween, and to welcome the autumnal month of November, I present to you: Spook Tales.
It can be whatever you like. Each person picks up the thread of the story where the last person left off. This will make for an...interesting...plot, but it can be fun.
Play yourself, or a character, or a few characters...whatever you like. To write fiction is often to get into somebody else's skin.
There are no rules. It would be nice if it were spooky, sexy, and violent, in what measures decency allows.
But just keep the ball rolling. Even if one line at a time.
Once upon a time in Luuneyland, there was a crooked house. In the crooked house, a crooked chimney. In the crooked chimney, a crooked chimney-sweep.
The crooked chimney-sweep is Selina, or more accurately, Selina's doppelganger, a hungry ghost continually seeking after cheeeeeeeeeese ...
...while her real self remains in the Tower of Luuneyland.
But hark! What sound approacheth? What evil murmuring is this?
Selina shapeshifts into a vampire and eats a muffin, as she always does when she's terrified out of her wits.
What goblin, ghoul, witch or wolf is't that thus cruelly snatters away?

Re: Spook Tales
The sound of screeching bats pierced the night silence as Luney the witch was approaching Selina's house.
She had come to propose a rather interesting challenge to her old friend... rumor has it that the devil himself is hosting a ball in the abandoned house on the hill.
It was All Hallow's Eve and a well known fact that anyone that spent a full night at the devil's ball would become the master of their destiny and would have their dearest wish granted.
If only Selina had the courage to join her...

Re: Spook Tales
Selina was frightened of the devil. What if he incarcerated her soul? What if he got his black-red fingers and ripped her apart like you rip apart an old book or the bark of a tree? What if he turned her into a small brown nut and swallowed her whole?
Muahahhahaa!!
...but the devil knew his power over her. He knew with a knowing deep and fierce and ancient that she was his slave already, that she belonged to him; he did not even RS her, she was already the child of his thought. She was hypnotised, drugged, drowning in her sleep as she said -- the lantern-child said -- yes, I will go with you, Lunar. So Lunar put her manicured green fingers, cold and damp like eels, like a bracelet around Selina's wrist, and led her, led her to the house abandoned, led her to the night of sin.
There was a howling of wolves; they announced the devil's victory.
Revenge is sweet, thought the Devil, rapping his knuckles against the table. She rejected me once; no more. They had loved each other since the moment they'd first set eyes each other in a midnight tavern in southwest Transylvania, but she had been afraid, yes, very afraid of him, she had run away from the intensity of what he'd planted in her fertile soul ready to spring up, the intensity of love unbounded.
Could she break love's spell? Could somebody save her? An evil goddess, a good fairy?
As they entered the house the smell of crackling, sulphur, smoke overwhelmed them, cloaked them, clutched them with ravening fingers.... the stage was set for a satanic masquerade...
A hero, or a villain? There is no mistaking; as Lunar brings her friend to meet (again) the devil, something wicked this way comes... ...but who? and what will they do in the meantime?
