Thread of Dreams
I propose -
a) a toast (to Lotus, our beloved patron-friend)
b) a new thread, in which we can post dreams that we'd like to have manifested.
They don't have to be literal dreams (though they can be), they can be daydreams or distant fantasies.
This is the place we paste them -- our deepest wishes, our silliest wishes -- what we'd like to happen to us in the next few years.
Then a few years later we will come back and see how much has happened.

To give you some idea ||
One day, I wish to be a published picture book author/illustrator
One day, I wish to live in Oxford with Dr K
One day, I wish to go punting down the Cherwell with Night Eyes
One day (probably when I am 82) I wish to be a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford
One day, I wish to explore Lundy Island - again with Night Eyes, but others are welcome to join us!
One day, I wish to finish and publish my young adult triology, not necessarily to J.K. Rowling-type acclaim, but I would like it to be well known enough that certain people (not mentioning any names) will know of it
Alright...now it's your turn, invisible reader.

Re: Thread of Dreams
Global peace and freedom.
And....$100 billion in my net worth of course (in today's dollars, I want to keep the value adjusted for inflation), tons of abundance and prosperity overflowing!
The economy/financial markets being stronger than ever, with greater inclusiveness and engagement. Helping people get richer.
Global poverty becomes a thing of the past.
I become an author and finish my short stories.
I have more healing powers so that when I volunteer, people can take that energy in and get better faster.
Mountains of Reeses, Twixes, Kit-Kat, and Snickers!!! And pizza!
Go on a romantic adventure across the world with a woman I really, really love.
Discover the secrets of the Universe.

Re: Thread of Dreams
This is fun :-)
I want to become the first female formula one driver... Or at least drive that thing once for the feel of it.
Learn how to swim like a beast and beat all my male friends with triathlons so I won't be the slow mo of the group anymore. Competitive? Not a bit
I want to wake up every morning in peace, slowly make my way to the kitchen table where I start my day with coffee and in total freedom. I decide when I start working that day because I am financially independent.
Woah, lots of writing ambitions here, yes I want that too! I would like to inspire people with my happiness blog, would be nice to earn some money with it.
One of those houses on the canals in my town where I secretly look inside when I drive by will be mine. I will live there with my lovely partner and beautiful kids, who are smart, and healthy.
I still travel a lot, why? Because I am a happy camper, not that I like camping, but the happy camper part sounds awesome.

Absolutely. I only added about 1/100th of my dreams.
P.S. President, were you implying that you're insane...or that I am?
Whatever the case, fits with the Sims asylum I guess.

Re: Thread of Dreams
NE, you are my kinda gal lol, I would gladly also take most of your dreams I mean.. not take them FROM you or try to be the 5th wheel in your family holiday... ahh you know what I mean ....
I have actually had this Santorini picture as my desktop background for at least a month now lol
As soon as the kids are a little older, I will get right back to my travels and I will
climb Kilimanjaro
Discover some old temples in Myanmar
Go dog sledding under northern lights
I was gonna meet my cousin in Santorini, but since NE nabbed it, guess I'm gonna have to take my cousin to Bora Bora instead
And of course I would also head back to homeland and see family and friends just relax, have a cup of hot mulled wine and hazelnut pie and chat the night away with my best friends in front of the log fire while it's freezing outside
I will also be financially independent and secure doing something that I truly love (not sure what, but I'll be loving it lol)
Have a cozy home with a big garden and some outdoor decks, hopefully with a nice view
Overcome my driving phobia and have a new car. Don't care about having a fancy car, a nice Prius will be just fine for me
Ok, I ran out of ideas for now

Re: Thread of Dreams
Oh my goodness I'm not the only one who's scared of driving?
Is it an LOA girly thing?
(well, obviously not for Sunshine )
I don't even have my full licence yet. I got my learner's aged 18, but it fell through because we have these ridiculous (though good-for-safety) rules in Australia, 120 hours of learner-driving with someone next to you before you can even start to go for your Provisional test, and I've always been way way way too busy, and yes, roundabouts scare me, so...
...cough.
Someday I want to drive one of these:
Or these...Emma Peel Lotus (hehe) Elan

I love how this is becoming a travel thread.
Santorini has been on my list for quite a while... ohhhhh!!!!!
I want to go to Atlantis Books there:
I have a friend who lives in Barcelona, I'd love to visit her next time I'm in Europe and enjoy all the gaudy Gaudi
I'd like to visit Canada someday --
Go rowing on a lake there...
Speaking of boats... paddle boating in Zurich or Geneva...
Sailing on the French Riviera...
Diving on the Great Barrier Reef, again, this time with a certain someone
...swimming with dolphins...
...finally learning to surf, not just body surf or boogie board...
...visit the Whitsundays (Australia)...
As you can tell, I have a strong affinity with water.
The next wish post I do will be all about snow.
^ here with someone I really truly heartbreakingly love...

Re: Thread of Dreams
I will happily share any dream with you and love the color of your new car NE
Oh my, it is really funny that we are all scared of driving. Considering we were talking about the Celestine Prophecy, the next book in the series- Tenth Insight - talks a lot about soul groups, so maybe we are all part of the same soul group
and we all have some common issues and likes, such as we all have driving phobias, all love traveling, England, LOA, reading late at night and God knows what else I wonder if we all repeat the same patterns in relationships or other areas of life too?
Anyway, YESSS to more travel dreams!!
I love Rome and Seychelles is nice but coming to see lunar in Florida is much nicer...cough...
I didn't take this photo myself, a lady at my local forum took it this morning
I can't do diving I feel immediate pressure and piercing pain in my head and I just can't... so I always go snorkeling in the same places where other people go diving lol. I have done it on Great Barrier Reef and it's nice BUT there is one place that is like a hidden gem and if you and the one you truly love want a really amazing experience, make your way to a tiny town of Bonito in Brazil. It's so tiny but there is SO much to do around there and it is cheap and not many people know about it, so there are no crowds.
You and your love can go snorkeling in crystal clear warm rivers that are FULL of colorful fish of all sizes and the water is so clear the fish seem to be floating on air when you look from above.
Then you can go diving or snorkeling in this cave.
Yes the only way for you to get in or out is to abseil 75 meters up and down through a tiny hole on that rope you see there. The lake in that cave is 82 meters deep and has the biggest underwater cones in the world and if you snorkel on top of them, it's like floating in a different world over some enormous skyscrapers swimming in blue light. The most amazing experience I've ever had and you can dive there too! Best thing is nobody even knows about this place so it'll likely be you and couple other people + 2 guides.
you can swim under waterfalls, eat amazing food and these pretty macaws are everywhere
Anyway back to my travel dreams, I will also do the Trans-Siberian railway during winter
climb on dunes in Namibia
and finally take some time off in Provence

Re: Thread of Dreams
Eeeeek!
Well, I haven't read about soul groups but Night and I certainly have lots and lots of similarities
[in a way that is sometimes slightly scary! good scary...]
And oh yes my goody goodness, it's so hard to get rid of the travel bug after all these posts!!!!
(not that I'm not currently travelling...ermm!!!)
Lunar, you do realise you're telling an AUSSIE there's something better than the Great Barrier Reef?
To be accurate I've never done proper diving, not with equipment, I did snorkelling in the middle of the ocean (off a boat) but held my breath and swam down quite deep to meet all the fishies. There was a slightly scary moment, though, when I was following a Big Fish and it led me under the boat...and once I realised how far under I'd gone, that there was no air to come back to... yes. Scary.
(needless to say I did manage to swim out into the open in time to survive!)
Maybe there needs to be some sort of Le Cafe Around the World Tour (in 80 days or less )?

Re: Thread of Dreams
Lol, obviously there is nothing better than anything Aussie and my cousin would agree cause she's a massive Australia fan.
But for GBR, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have many fish and the corals were grey not colorful. I think it's because there are boatloads of tourists going there every day so corals die. I'm sure they have the really magical colorful corals with tons of fish there too, but they are just protected from nosy tourists like me
Just to make it up for you, here is a photo I took the next morning when we went hot air ballooning, it was amazing obviously, so Australia really IS wonderful!!!!!
Ahhhh, that boat story is SCARY I can't hold my breath for long at all, probably max 10 seconds, so I would've panicked.
That is so LOA that you said that cause just last night we were watching Tempted which is filmed in Hawaii and I was saying there is no way I would've swam under ocean to get to some secret cave like they did, not even after Jason Momoa
yes, it's a very scenic movie... cough ... oh, here's another one especially for NE
When we were in Moreton island, we snorkeled around the shipwrecks, so you can tell the water was quite deep. We had surf boards to hold on to and were snorkeling along the wrecks. So suddenly I see an enormous sting ray right below me (that was right after Steve Irwin died) and I took my mask off to shout to the others that "Hey there's a huge ray here" and I realized I was floating alone, everyone had snorkeled off in a row to the opposite direction even my cousin paid zero attention to the fact that I was missing. Obviously I paddled after them in hyper speed
But the best thing to come from Australia besides Selina and my ex who is also from Sydney is

Girls, weird thing's happened... you know how before we were talking about cars and our fear of driving? Well, a lot of my friends don't drive or have cars either... or...they didn't. Just today *two* of my friends in my FB newsfeed have bought a car after never having had one before... no no no what is this telling me?!
Probably nothing, but...
Are there any other fears we want to see conquered? I definitely have a few...
Reading back, @Sunshine, do you already have this happiness blog or is it a project for the future? If it's current already, could you maybe link it to us? I'd love to have a look, I always like to see more happy things!
